Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, Woodlake High School will introduce a new vocational curriculum for interested freshman called the Academy of Agriculture. Two pathways will be offered to incoming freshmen that they will pursue during their four years at WHS, based on their personal and career interests.
Natural Resources Pathway— In this curriculum, coursework will have a focus on plants and animal science.
Ag Mechanics Pathway— Cousework will focus on technical skills, welding, and engineering.
Academy of Agriculture is an educational approach that combines career-themed courses, rigorous curriculum, work-based learning, and personalized student support. Other learning opportunities include job shadowing, internships, and professional skill-building events.
Upon completion of the four years of coursework, students will be prepared to enter college, an internship program, or the job market.
Applications for the program are due by May 1. As long as there are spots available, all students who complete applications will be accepted. An open house to introduce the program is scheduled for Thursday, April 30, at 6 p.m., in WHS agriculture building. Formore information, call the high school office at (559)564-3307.
