Okay, everybody knows that when it’s time to get a new furry family member that you adopt one (or more) from a local rescue facility or SPCA shelter, right? Why, you ask?
Because when you bring a companion animal into your home this way, you are not only saving that life, but the lives of countless others as you send a message to commercial pet stores that “puppy mills” and other facilities that mass produce pets for sheer profit are unacceptable.
Currently on the planet, there are about 80 domesticated animals for every human. That’s why mass-breeding is not necessary.
To that end, the Valley Oak SPCA in Visalia is offering an adoption special this weekend. From Friday, Aug. 29, through Tuesday, Sept. 2, adoption fees for all Pit and Pit mixes and Chihuahua and Chihuahua mixes are $75. This includes spay/neuter, HomeAgain microchip, initial DHLP-P vaccination, rabies vaccination, and free veterinary wellness exam.
There will be refreshments available as you tour the facility to pick out your new best friend.
And, as always, donations of puppy/kitten food and pet supplies are so appreciated.
Shelter hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays, noon to 3 p.m.
Note: Valley Oak SPCA will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, for Labor Day.
