After-hours dumping puts strain on Thingerie volunteers

Mondays at The Thingerie are labor-intensive for the volunteers of the thrift store as people use the after-hours time on Sundays to anonymously dump their unwanted junk.

Recently, a couch dumped in front of The Thingerie in Three Rivers. It was left there sometime after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, and before 7 a.m. Monday, March 20.

"Members of the Three Rivers Woman’s Club volunteer their time to sort, gather, and prepare for sale the donated items of mostly clothing and small household items," said Mary Hohne, longtime volunteer at The Thingerie. "There is no reason to leave items, such as furniture, that should be taken to the public dump."

Anyone who has a question about if their castoffs are acceptable for resale at the store, the proper procedure is to visit or call (561-4883) during regular operating hours.

Hours of Operation

Monday: Open 8 am-noon for donation drop-offs

Tuesday-Friday: 10 am-4 pm        Saturday: 10 am-1 pm

Closed Sundays and the first Wednesday of each month

NOTICE— Due to space constraints, The Thingerie cannot accept donations of furniture and other large items.

The Thingerie is a volunteer-run enterprise that raises funds for the Three Rivers Woman’s Club that are, in turn, returned to the community in the form of numerous philanthropic endeavors.
