Appointments recommended for Three Rivers Blood Drive

Central California Blood Center is thankful that you are considering partnering with us to help sustain our blood supply for patients in the Central Valley. We are committed to creating safe mobile drives for donors and have implemented some practices to ensure the wellbeing of all participants.

The Three Rivers Lions Club’s spring blood drive will take place as scheduled on Thursday, April 2, from 2:30 to 6 pm, at the Three Rivers Memorial Building. Because of the COVID-19 crisis, there will be some changes in normal procedure.
In order to keep donors spaced out to avoid public contact and to minimize wait times, donors are encouraged to make an appointment for this blood drive. People can sign up online for an appointment here (preferred) or by texting or calling 559-612-7995.
Additional staff will be at the blood drive to help with social distancing and registration outside. The number of donors providing blood at one time will be limited to ensure proper social distancing.
Once registered, donors will be placed on a list and asked to wait in their vehicle (if there is a wait). The staff will call donors via cell phone when it is their turn to donate.
All surfaces and equipment will be sanitized after use by each donor (draw chairs, tablets, pens, computers, etc.).
Blood donation takes less than one hour to complete. Donors must be in good general health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be at least 17 years old. Donors should eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within four hours prior to their donation. A Social Security number is required for registration and all donors must present photo identification upon registration. Administered by the Central California Blood Center; sponsored by Three Rivers Lions Club.
NOTICE: Donating blood is not a way to be tested for COVID-19. Due to COVID-19 being a respiratory disease, blood centers are not testing or screening for COVID-19 directly, but do screen all donors to make sure they are healthy and eligible to donate.
According to Rusty Crain, blood drive chairman, Three Rivers Lions Club, these are the Three Rivers community members who donated blood during the last two blood drives held in December and February (the names with an asterisk donated both times):
Tawny Ashford*, Lori Baker, Jami Beck, Brad Bloetscher*, Leeza Bocanegra, Martin Burnham, Jean Cortes, Rusty Crain*, Kerry Daugherty, Karen Dennis, Sylvia Diaz, Jim Fansett, Gregg Fauth*, Richard Fletcher, Nicole French, Holly Gallo, Jacqueline Gardner, Jerry Gonzales*, Julie Gray, John Griesbach, Rex Hildebrand, Steve Horton, David King, Sheridan King, George Kulick, Christopher Landstrom, Adam Leavy, David Lynch, Tom Marshall*, Kathleen McCleary*, Denis Milhomme, Donald Mosley, Arthur Ogawa, Rebecca Paterson*, Holly Peltzer, Steven Pinhey, Paul Schiele, Sarah Shena, Nancy Smith, Richard Smith, Clifford Stone, Steven Swinney, Susan Winters, Patricia Witt.

I used the new “reservation” system and it was super easy. They responded and have a contact as needed. I think this is the way to go in the future! I shared with Rusty that this an simple, effective, process that should save everyone time.
