Charles Drouet of Three Rivers died Saturday, July 5, 2014, of natural causes. He was 93.
Charles and his wife, Rene, have been residents of Three Rivers since 2009, when they relocated here from Arizona to be closer to family.
Charles and Rene met in their native London during World War II when Charles was in the Royal Navy. Surviving the bombings and then the rationing, they immigrated to Canada in 1950 with their young son Rodney. In 1952, they relocated to Southern California when their second son, Roger, was just weeks old.
Charles and Rene lived in many places throughout their long marriage including Peace Corps service in Iran and Samoa. Their extensive, adventurous travels throughout the world brought treasured memories and far-flung friends and continue to enrich many conversations.
Charles is survived by his lifelong love, Rene; two sons, Rodney of Hemet and Roger and wife Linda of Three Rivers; granddaughter Virginia Pappas, her husband Ryan and their daughter, Avery, of West Sacramento; and his other grandchildren and great-grandchildren from Rodney.
Rene sends sincere appreciation to the outstanding people at Comforting Assistance: Lisa Garcia, Robert Foster, and Bertha Garza. They have been supportive beyond all expectations.
No memorial service is planned locally. Charles’s remains will be returned to his beloved London by family.
