For those who took advantage of Indian summer and ventured across the Generals Highway into Kings Canyon this past week, they may have noticed the new concessioner. Effective November 1, lodging, retail, food and beverage service in Cedar Grove and Grant Grove are now being operated by Delaware North Companies Parks and Resorts.
No stranger to the local national parks, DNC has been operating in Sequoia National Park since 1997. In 1999, the Buffalo-based company completed the financing and construction of Wuksachi Village that replaced most of the services that had been relocated out of the Giant Forest.
Capital improvements are also being planned for Grant Grove under the terms of the initial 10-year Kings Canyon agreement. In addition to the Sequoia facilities, DNC has operated in Yosemite National Park since 1993.
“We are proud to incorporate this natural treasure into our family of special places,” said Paul Rachford, regional general manager of DNC. “Guests can look forward to many of the same high quality service standards we have established at Sequoia and Yosemite.”
To celebrate the transition, guests who book a stay at the John Muir Lodge through March 31 can stay from $99 per night midweek and $119 on weekends and enjoy complimentary breakfast for two. Visitors must use promotional code KCOFFER when making the reservation.
