Dogs receive snakebite protection

Three Rivers residents and their furry friends line up at a rattlesnake-vaccine clinic held for dogs on Sunday, March 8, sponsored by Lone Oak Veterinary Hospital and Three Rivers Woman’s Club. During the three-hour event, 98 dogs were vaccinated; another 20 are on a wait list.

The crew from Lone Oak Veterinary Hospital in Three Rivers was on site at the Three Rivers Mercantile parking lot to provide the vaccine.

“Only one dog objected and escaped,” said Autumn Davidson, DVM, of Three Rivers. “The dog sprinted across the parking lot, onto Highway 198, and into a car with its top down full of dogs who were en route to the clinic. Escape foiled!”
