Dorothy Sara Hickam was born April 25, 1925. She was raised in Exeter by her mother and stepfather, Leola and Mike Girado. She was known as Dot by her close friends and family.
On April 2, 1945, Dorothy married Herbert Scott, also of Exeter. During World War II, Herb was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army.

Herb was diagnosed with cancer and died November 4, 1979. Years later, Dorothy reconnected with Charles Meaders at an Exeter High School class reunion. The couple married on March 25, 1995, and settled in Three Rivers.
Dorothy and Charles enjoyed traveling and taking cruises around the world.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 20 years, Chuck Meaders of Three Rivers; her four children; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
