One of the key components of the mission of Family Healthcare Network is to promote health and wellness, and that means helping folks of all ages become proactive about their health. Regular checkups are key, but day in and day out, the best prescription is eating healthy and regular exercise.
A multitude of studies have shown that regular walking — 30 minutes at least three times weekly — can have immediate benefits like reducing the risk of several chronic diseases, promoting better overall health, adding more control to one’s life, and improving wellness. To that end, Lauren Elliott, PA-C of FHCN, and Charlene Vartanian, RN, are teaming up to launch the Three Rivers Walking Club.
“To begin, we will meet weekly starting Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 7 a.m.,” said Lauren Elliott. “The 30-minute walks are open to all ages and are designed to be fun. We’ll walk at various places around Three Rivers. We will start slow and easy, then work up to whatever might be group appropriate.”
Lauren said the first session from September to November will consist of 10 consecutive Tuesday morning walks. The inaugural walk will meet in the Three Rivers Memorial Building parking lot at Sierra Drive and Skyline.
The group walks begin at 7 a.m. and there is no charge to participate. If interested or would like additional information, contact Charlene Vartanian, 786-3358, or Lauren Elliott at FHCN Three Rivers, 561-4683.
