FHCN will assist with Covered California enrollment

Family HealthCare Network has a team of certified enrollment counselors who are ready to assist individuals and families during the current Covered California open enrollment period. Open enrollment began November 15, 2014, and will continue through February 15, 2015.

FHCN is a “certified enrollment entity” for Covered California. Currently, there are scam emails being sent and non-certified individuals, all willing to take a person’s personal information and quite possibly their money, so beware.

The renewal process for existing Covered California plans is also underway and will remain open until December 15. This is for individuals who enrolled in the exchange last year.

During last year’s open enrollment period, FHCN assisted more than 6,000 people in completing their health insurance applications.

“There is still a need for education and assistance to help members of our community through the process,” said Kerry Hydash, FHCN president and CEO.

If consumers who bought health insurance this year sit back and do nothing, they’ll be automatically enrolled in the same plan next year. Yet program officials urge people to check out options to see if they can get a better deal in 2015.

Certified enrollment counselors are currently available at each of FHCN’s 14 health centers throughout Tulare and Kings counties. Enrollment counselors are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The public may visit any FHCN health center to speak with a counselor regarding insurance options or call the FHCN enrollment line at (559) 741-4366 for more information.
