FYE Sports: Trail shoes done right

Check out the new TOPO trail and running shoes at FYE Sports

What’s the most popular sport in the world? If you said something in the realm of hiking, running or trail running you’d be correct. The outdoor gear business is a multi-billion dollar industry. Nearly everyone can walk, run or scramble up and down a trail.

And the would-be adventurer won’t get far without decent footwear. That’s where FYE Sports in Exeter is blazing the trail. Their business is growing and soon expanding into a new location next to Hometown Emporium in downtown Exeter.

Good footwear is essential and depends on the fit. So many times, expensive shoes purchased online end up as returns. But FYE Sports cuts right to the chase and stocks the best shoes suited to Kaweah Country trails and conditions. The newest, and arguably the best trail shoes on the market, is the new TOPO line. They are a hybrid between the two best selling brands Altra, known for their zero drop styles, and Hoka with the plush cushioning and higher heel drop.

Heel drop represents the difference in cushioning between the heel and the toe of the shoe. It’s calculated in millimeters and from zero to 10 can make all the difference in a comfortable foot strike in millions of steps. Altra is zero drop; Hoka is on the higher side between 7 and 10. TOPOs range consistently between 3 and 5.

Michael Young, co-founder and President of FYE Sports explains all about the new TOPO trail and road running shoes in this 3R News video.
