In the aftermath of area school closures and event cancellations for nearly all area gatherings, the Sierra Traditional Jazz Club announced on Monday, March 16, that Jazzaffair 2020 (April 16-19) has been canceled.

The news came via a message posted on the club’s Facebook page.

“It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the cancellation of Jazzaffair 2020. Our festival has a history of 46 straight years. In light of the mandates from both state and federal governments, the CDC and just plain common sense, we feel it would be irresponsible to take a chance of exposing our fans to the COVID-19 virus. Thank you very much for your continued support.” —STJC board of directors.

Never attended Jazzaffair or maybe you missed Jazzaffair 2019’s historic finale? Here’s the memorable closing set excerpted in four parts of last year’s farewell to the High Sierra Jazz Band.
