The Tulare County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) is seeking applications from county residents interested in serving as the public member of LAFCO.
LAFCO is an independent, quasi-legislative agency that reviews city annexations and the establishment of boundaries and authorized services for numerous local agencies including fire, community services, and water districts.
Meetings: The commission meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 2 p.m. in the Tulare County Board of Supervisors Chambers in Visalia. At times, meetings are rescheduled due to holidays or conflicting events.
Qualifications: Applicants must be residents of Tulare County, be able to regularly attend LAFCO meetings, and not be officers or employees of the County or any city or special district (not including school districts). The public member is a public official and required to file a standard financial disclosure statement annually with the California Fair Political Practices Commission.
How to apply: People interested in serving on LAFCO must complete an application form and submit a resume detailing applicable experience and service. The four-year term starts May 7 and continues through May 1, 2022.
Application materials must be submitted to Tulare County LAFCO, 210 N. Church St., Suite B, Visalia CA 93291, by Friday, March 2. The commission will make the new member appointment at its meeting after the application period has closed. Application forms are available here.
