Midday burglary interrupted

A resident of the South Fork Estates neighborhood in Three Rivers apparently interrupted a mid-afternoon burglary on Thursday, Aug. 21. When a Tulare County Sheriff’s Department deputy arrived to take a statement, the victim of the attempted heist was able to provide a description of both the subject and the getaway car.

The person fleeing the scene of the crime was described as a white male in a late-model Chevrolet Cobalt. The resident reported an estimated $3,000 loss in stolen property.

Arrest made in previous case

In another Three Rivers burglary earlier this year, in which two expensive racing bicycles were stolen from a locked storage container, a suspect Jonathan Downs, 29, of Visalia was arrested June 19 and charged in that case. He was identified from video taken at a Visalia shop when he pawned the stolen bicycles.

Downs is currently free on bail awaiting trial. He is facing grand theft and stolen property charges in connection with the Three Rivers case.
