Mildred Maryetta (Pritchard) Steer died peacefully Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, in Spokane, Wash., surrounded by her family. She was 90.
Millie was born September 27, 1925, to Lawrence “Ray” and Verna (Barton) Pritchard of Three Rivers.
Millie was raised and educated in Three Rivers. She loved spending time in the Sierra, especially the Mineral King area.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents and only sibling, older brother Louis Pritchard of Three Rivers. On September 15, 1947, Louis, a pilot, was killed at the age of 27 when his private training plane crashed northeast of Ivanhoe. Louis and his parents are buried at the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Millie was also preceded in death by her first husband Earl F. Spotts in January 1961. She later married Harry Steer, who passed away in 2006.
She is survived by her four children, Carol (Spotts) Glashoff of Monterey, Calif., Julia (Spotts) Stevens and husband Don of Spokane, Wash., Loree (Spotts) Poutre of Olympia, Wash., and Dan Steer and wife Janeen of Spokane; eight grandchildren, Cristy Mehringer (Jason) of Monterey, Molly Volkmann (Tanler) of Valencia, Lindsay Beal (Jay) of Spokane Valley, Wash., Noah Poutre (Sarah) of Mill Creek, Wash., Jake Poutre of Olympia, Wash., and Jonah Steer, Avery Steer, and Asher Steer, all of Spokane; and her great-grandchildren Tylor Mehringer; Eliot, Owen, and Alivia Beal; Cohen, and Poppi Poutre; and Wylder and Walker Volkmann. Millie is also survived by a cousin who continues to reside in Three Rivers, Jim Barton.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 24, at Spokane First Assembly of God Church. Interment was at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery (Spokane).
