There has been resurgence in Woodlake over the last few years, especially in the downtown area. There’s a new round-a-bout, transportation center, plaza, and now a community center rising from a couple of lots that formerly housed some aging and dilapidated buildings.
The millions of dollars that have poured in to revitalize the downtown include private investors opening new businesses seeking to capitalize on Woodlake’s bright future. Count a new sleek coffee shop, Munchies among businesses becoming part of Woodlake’s downtown makeover.
Why the name Munchies for a state-of-the-art coffee emporium? It’s located right next door to Valley Pure, Tulare County’s first recreational cannabis outlet.
“We’re already seeing some of Valley Pure’s customers grabbing a cup of coffee and some baked goodies to go for the ride home,” said Kari Carleton, general manager of Woodlake’s newest business.
“Our customers say we remind them of Starbucks but without all the corporate stuffiness and branding,” said Carleton.
Munchies, a locally owned and operated coffee shop, has a lot to offer both regulars and visitors just passing through. A very clean and inviting space, there is plenty of comfortable seating, and a friendly, welcoming staff. Hang out and get some work done on the free WiFi or just
chill with a sweet green tea, Italian soda, or a carefully concocted cold brew.
Ports to plug in devices are everywhere so check email, write a proposal, or just surf a favorite social media page. Got a more regular case of being hungry? Munchies serves a cornucopia of baked specialties, sandwiches and fresh salads.
Barista Crystallee says that the oversized brownies are a super popular snack and well worth the calories.
A daily commuter with no time time to sit a spell? The team at Munchies can serve a quick fresh brewed cup and get you back on the road in a heartbeat. Or if you’ve got a few minutes to spare, ask your barista to brew up a single cup of coffee, pour-over style. If your palate is a bit more bold, add a shot of espresso blended with a triple skinny caramel macchiato.
There’s always something brewing at Munchies whether you are looking for a quiet respite or some stimulating conversation. Located at 136 N. Valencia Blvd. in downtown Woodlake, Munchies is directly across the business block from Woodlake Hardware.
Munchies is open Monday through Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
