NPS clears chamise from Lookout Point area

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, a Sequoia National Park fire crew completed a hazard-reduction burn of chamise piles at Lookout Point on the Mineral King Road.

This type of burn is part of the local Park Service's overall fire program that uses prescribed fire, mechanical thinning, and other tactics to increase forest health while protecting neighboring communities and park facilities.
