8/22/2020: Rangers received report of a fire and multiple tents set up at the edge of Halstead Meadow. Rangers contacted  approximately 8 individuals with 3 tents and an easy-up at the Halstead Picnic Area. The fire was contained in one of the constructed grill/fire areas. Rangers assisted in extinguishing the fire and the individuals packed up and left. Prepare for some company
8/24/2020: Rangers assisted Bear Techs in releasing and hazing of a problem bear frequenting the Wolverton area.

KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARK

8/16/2020 – Managed a separated party in the wilderness, which resolved the next day.
8/17/2020 – Managed a overdue party in the wilderness, which resolved the next day.
8/20/2020 – Managed a satellite SOS activated for a 42-year-old male with radiating chest pain and nausea/vomiting near Darwin Lakes/the southern base of Lamarck Col cross-country route. A Parkmedic was flown out with H552, prepared for possible short haul, which wasn’t necessary. The individual was flown to MacKensie helispot and transferred to Sequoia Safety ground ambulance. The patient’s EKG was consistent with a likely heart attack. Prepare for some company
8/27/2020 – Report of a 54-year-old male with altitude sickness, nausea, and dizziness at the JMT/Kearsarge trail junction. Patient was flown by H552 to the Ash Mountain Helibase and taken by ground ambulance to Kaweah Delta. Prepare for some company

Permit reservation applications are being processed within one day. Six trailheads are fully booked for wilderness entry between September 3-6 and fifteen trailheads are fully booked for entry on September 5.
