The body of Patricia Bayza, 53, was discovered Thursday, March 24, in her room at Wuksachi Lodge in Sequoia National Park. The Santa Clarita woman was found by a hotel employee who entered the room after Bayza failed to notify the front desk at her appointed checkout time.
According to a Wuksachi Lodge front desk clerk, Bayza had stayed for at least “a couple of nights” before her scheduled departure day. The Tulare County Coroner will rule on the cause of death pending the outcome of a toxicology test.
There was no reported evidence of foul play. A spokesperson for the Coroner’s office said the toxicology tests routinely require six to eight weeks.
Wuksachi, built in 1999, with its 102 rooms, is the only lodging facility in Sequoia National Park.
