As if there are any more reasons needed to make the one-hour drive up the Mineral King Road to view the scenic splendor of a record runoff season, Silver City Resort is having their third annual pie-eating contest at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 15. The entry fee into the competition is $10 and, according to Michael Seward, the resort’s general manager, a trifle to pay to eat all you want of the best homemade, high-country pie anywhere.
The fun and high jinx begin as soon after 3 p.m as the bibs and napkins can be passed around. Come hungry as a bear if you dare. Spectators are welcome too.
