High Sierra Jazz Band is known throughout the world. But here at home, the band’s support group could use some new members, which will ensure that traditional jazz remains alive and thriving in Three Rivers for years to come.
Currently, there is a new-membership special ongoing for those who reside in the local area. Those who join the club from now until Jazzaffair will receive half-price admission when purchasing a three-day/all-venue badges for Jazzaffair.
Jazzaffair will be held in Three Rivers for the 45th year, from Friday, April 13, to Sunday, April 15.
An annual membership to STJC is just $35 for an individual and $50 per couple.
“We’re creating a really great program for locals in honor of our 45th annual Jazzaffair,” said Stan Huddleston, STJC president. “Also joining the club allows a person or couple to attend the four club events during the year for free.”
Each of STJC’s four concerts includes music by the world-renowned High Sierra Jazz Band, which is based in Three Rivers. Club members also receive a quarterly newsletter.
Each club gathering features a theme. The next one is scheduled for Saturday, March 10, at the Three Rivers Memorial Building. Deck yourself in green for the St. Patrick’s Day theme. Consider yourself lucky as you partake in a traditional Irish meal of corned beef, cabbage, and Irish potatoes. (See the Kaweah Kalendar listing on page 4 for details).
Non-members may attend this and the other quarterly club events for a $10 admission fee.
Lunch is at 1 p.m. For those coming just for the music, the concert will begin at 2 p.m.
