Three Rivers man killed in solo vehicle crash

Timmy Smith, 21, of Three Rivers died Saturday, Oct. 17, from injuries he sustained in a solo car rollover crash. The accident was reported at 11:50 p.m.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from his 2009 Toyota Matrix. The accident occurred about one-quarter of a mile west of Horse Creek Campground.

According to the CHP report, the victim was not wearing a seat belt. A witness said Smith’s eastbound vehicle swerved across the right shoulder and struck a highway  sign. Smith over-corrected to the left and the vehicle rolled, ejecting Smith.

As is customary in any fatality, the CHP has requested a toxicology report from the Tulare County Coroner. The incident is being investigated as a solo rollover with a possible drunk driver.
