George Thomas Carroll, MD, of Three Rivers died Saturday, May 31, 2014. His beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia, was at his side. He was 85.
Dr. Carroll was born in Riverside. After medical school and several years as an Army surgeon in Alaska, he and Pat settled in Visalia to raise their family.
Dr. Carroll practiced ophthalmology for over 30 years in Visalia and Exeter, both in private practice and on staff at Kaweah Delta Hospital. He also regularly volunteered his time and talent to provide free eye care to the disadvantaged. Dr. Carroll cared for hundreds of patients throughout Tulare County, sometimes across several generations.
For the past three decades, Dr. Carroll and Patricia have resided in Three Rivers.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, Dr. Carroll is survived by his two sons, Tom Carroll and wife Rebecca of Roseville and Kevin Carroll and wife Sandra of Morro Bay; daughter Colleen Gregory and husband Jeff of Tulare; and five grandchildren, Evan and wife Sahra, Kathryn, Patrick, Riley and Ethan.
A private family service will be held.
