The New Year begins with snow and blustery winter weather for the mid-Atlantic and northeastern U.S. In Kaweah Country it’s more of the same. — overnight lows in the mid-30s; daytime highs in the mid-60s; clear, and dry. The sliver of a moon this weekend makes perfect timing to view the Quadrantid meteor shower, an annual January display. Peaking this weekend, astronomers say the shower will average one or two shooting stars nearly every minute if viewed from an area not polluted with artificial lighting.
