The temperatures are trending down this week, a little closer to the seasonal averages. A storm system is showing up in the 10-day forecast for the last couple days of February. There is a 50 percent chance of precipitation for about four days during that period. 

UPDATE: There is rain forecast to reach the region by about noon on Sunday, Feb. 22. There is a chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon. The rain will continue into Monday morning, Feb. 23.

Here’s the disconcerting summary of a study just released by NASA regarding the record-shattering drought that is gripping California: “The worst is yet to come.” It predicts a mega-drought, “a drought that lasts several decades instead of the usual three years.”
