Put away the umbrellas for now. But tune up the weedeater.

The grasses are tall and beginning to dry out so Kaweah Country’s fifth season —  fire season — is on the way.

Temperatures will warm this week, which calls for a couple more warnings: (1) Keep an eye to the ground for rattlesnakes that will be venturing farther from their dens and for longer periods; and (2) Stay far away from the river’s edge as snowmelt will cause an increase in velocity and a decrease in water temperature.
